I have three questions.. urgent!

What colleges should I look to apply?
I want to major in Biology(not decided specifically) for pre-med, planning to go to medical school in US.

im international from S. Korea, i’ve been going to high school in US for about 3 years.
My gpa is 3.93, class rank 2/27, no AP(our school doesnt offer) in SAT i took yesterday im expecting about 600V 800M 650W

May V500 M760 W580(essay 9)
Oct V570 M800 W530(essay 5)
Nov Math790 Chem640 Bio550
Toefl 105 (highest score out of 2)
played 3 sports for one year but not anymore after i transferred.
participated Leadership and mentorship programs
in book club, drama club, key club(president)

Well i know i have better chance in engineering, due to good Math but bad bad bad science scores…
but i really want to go to medical school.

I have 3 QUESTIONS

Can you point out some colleges that could be considered too low or too high for me in this list. What should i remove or add?
Penn State Michigan State (these two i consider safety)
Purdue U. U of Massachusetts
U of Iowa U of Texas-Austin
U of Pittsburgh U of Georgia
U of Florida U of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign
U of Wisconsin-Madison U of North Carolina-Chappel Hill
U of Michigan-Ann Arbor Case Western Reserve University
I tended to select public colleges cuz of financial problem (except Case, my uncle lives by Cleveland)

Do you think i have any chance in U of Virginia and College of William and Mary?

Also do i have chance on financial aid in some LAC schols as international student? I know that LACs are better for pre-med but they are too expensive

Also any advise are welcomed
thanks

oh poop. we have like same scores....

Hmmm an international student. If you can get a 1400 on your SATs, I know a lot of big 10 schools have specific aid for intls. Look them up. UW Mad is a great school for biology, UW, UIowa, UPitt, UMich, and Case all have top med schools...but i dunno what you want by good "pre-med." I suggest you check that forum out, they can help you with your list. I dunno bout number 2, and all schools aren't really concerned with intl FA.

hey Karl Marks,
are those specific aids for intls merit-based scholarships?
well I meant schools with good biology and chem when i said good "pre-med"
also grade inflation, research opportunity, relationships with professors,
but i think they are pretty much same in big 10 schools
thanks

I know various big 10 schools have scholarship for out of staters and intls, check their websites for this.

If you want bio, UW mad is up there with Hopkins and others for that.
Schools with top med schools (Mich, Pitt, Iowa, etc.) tend to have strong natural science departments.

As far as grade inflation, with the exception of NW and Mich, the big 10 schools aren't known for smarty pants students. That being said, majors like biochem are very competitive at the top (the top 5% of students at big 10 and such schools are ivy capable)

As for as research, again the schools with the top med centers have excellent oportunities, UW Mad is known for research.

Hope that helps.

thanks so much :)
