I have to go buy stamps for college apps...

I wouldn't be suprised if adcoms didn't even see your envelopes and stamps. They probably have secretaries to complile the files, take the papers out of the envelopes, etc. And if you DO manage to grab an adcom's attention, it very well could be NEGATIVE attention. Are you sure the Legally Blonde image is the one you want to send?

I dont know...i'm soo confused right now. but i'm thinking that an adcom cant reject me for something that small...i just thought that a little personal touch wouldnt hurt, that's how I am and that's my personality; if they dont like it then I'm probably not fit for their school then, right?? But the question is which colleges would see that as a negative thing?

??????????????

Is it a good thing to get faster shipping? Some colleges say/reccomend to get shipping that you can trace just in case the application gets lost in the mail should I pay $7.00 or skip it?

I think there's a difference between a "personal touch" and something that looks fake just to get their attention. It's not like your application would be totally non-personal if you didn't put it on pink scented paper with a fancy stamp and some confetti in the envelope. Write a kickass essay--practice your signature to make it look really cool--make sure all of your personal statements are in the first person. It'll still be you. We all want to stand out from everyone else, but would you rather be remembered as "the really strong applicant with leadership, character, a great transcript, and that extra je ne sais quoi," or "the immature little girl who wrote on pink paper"? Yes, hardly any one of us actually knows whether a custom stamp or scented ink will help or hurt you, but it's not the right way to stand out. You sound fairly qualified; rely on your recs, not your stamp choice, to stand out. Put the time into writing well and staying organized instead of into creating custom stamps and at the last minute...oh yeah! writing your essay that you totally forgot about because you were too busy shopping for pretty paper!
Bottom line is act professional while still being yourself.

and yes, I definitely think that faster/certified shipping will be more worth your money than buying custom stamps.

Thanks soo much. Your post helped me a lot.
