I honestly don't know if I have a chance

hey guys,

I received my January scores back and I was really hoping they would go up, so I could receive an extra kick, but that goal’s shattered so…I don’t know if I made the right decisions at the schools I’ve applied to. See, they’re all pretty prestigious schools in my mind and I would LOVE professional opinions if these elementary stats fit anywhere. I don’t want to be too hopeful and I should focus on applications to other schools (I don’t live in the US).

I have a 1310 SAT composite (best of both) 650 verbal, 660 math.
My GPA…ok I don’t know how to convert, but its an A 80-100 here and I have around an 85. My rank kind of sucks - its like 3rd decile out of 110.
My essays I think were pretty good - I wrote about volunteering in another country. My recommendations were good, and guidance counselor’s was definitely good. I am extremely involved in community service, music and leadership - in school life and externally. I have not received any big national achievements but tons of local ones, and I live in a big city. They’re mostly in music, community service, and I am chair of 2 well-known youth councils in my city. I was interviewed by Seventeen (community involvement) but that I think isn’t too relevant.

So, please tell me to the best of your ability what my admissions chances would be at the following schools:

Barnard

NYU Stern

Cornell

Brown

U Penn Wharton

Wellesley

Thanks a lot! I don’t know what else could improve my chances - if you can think of any, let me know!

I don't usually respond to chances queries because admissions can be so random but your statistics seem very much out of keeping with the list of schools you've presented here. Possibly your personal achievements will outweigh that; you are apparently a very involved member of yuor community, and being interviewed by Seventeen is really exciting. But on the academics I would say your numbers are very low compared to the majority of applicants, so perhaps your college counselor knew something that isn't coming through here that made this list a feasible one.

Good luck, in any event.

Right now, the only solid match I see is NYU. All the others are reaches --- Hope this isn't your entire list. Do you have any other matches or safeties on your list? Best of luck - hope you prove me wrong and get into all of them!
