<p>I am a incoming first-year and I know freshmen cannot have cars on campus @ UNC. However, is there anywhere within a bus ride that I could possibly leave my car? Just wondering.<br>

<p>I’m not certain, but I think freshmen can get off-campus parking (which I’ve read is ridiculously expensive and pretty far away from campus). Everyone I’ve talked to has said that it’s not worth it at all to have a car on campus freshmen year because of the price and poor locations. They have buses to everywhere you might want to go on campus though (and even to places throughout Chapel Hill like the mall), and they’re free.</p>

<p>No I’m just kidding. If you look around probably craigslist and ads in Chapel Hill newspapers you can see people that live off campus selling parking spots to students. Try that.</p>
<p>I brought a car my first year at UNC (parked at Granville), and I think it was definitely worth the price. If you want to go to Southpoint, Raleigh, or even the grocery store, it is much more convenient to just hop in your vehicle and go than it is to have to plan everything around a bus schedule. </p>
<p>I know there is a church about 2 miles from campus that also sells parking spots for a pretty low rate, but I’m not sure what its called. I’ll check into that for you though.</p>
<p>Aren’t there zip cars available if you absolutely need a car to get somewhere?</p>

<p>I thought I saw a zip car the last time I visited campus with my D, and I could have sworn it had a minimum age requirement that would exclude most freshmen. Can anybody else comment on this?</p>

<p>The fraternities DU and Chi Psi both sell parking spots, so if you know any brothers you can get in touch with them. Both are very close to campus.</p>
