My critical reading is 600-700 and my writing is 500-600, so I'm not too worried about those. I take the SAT tomorrow, and again in january on the 28th.

My math score on the practice quizzes has been 450-460. I just cant get any higher.
I'm losing most of my points on algebra and statistics, and I've been reviewing over and over and taking lesson quizes till I'm POSITIVE I know it, but i just get the same score.

When I'm answering the questions on the SAT, I feel like im 100% sure i'm right, but when I get the score back, more than half of my answers were wrong.

This is BEYOND frustrating. Am I doing something wrong, or what? I really need to bring this up to a 700.

some practice books may be harder than the real thing. Are you using the blue book?

YOU’RE NOT FOCUSING HARD ENOUGH! Do you know the material? If you do, then there’s no reason you shouldn’t get a 800. Focus and concentrate. Recheck your answers. FOCUS AND CONCENTRATE.

It depends… what book are you using?
I suggest the CollegeBoard’s SAT practice book. That one was by far the most accurate (for obvious reasons).

I’d recommend using College Board’s blue book, it made raise my scores from 1680 up to 2110 !! Good luck !

If you are not familiar with the questions I suggest you review the specific topics you find difficult then move on to the practice tests obviously the blue book is the most accurate for practice tests but I also found princeton’s review decent for tips on certain questions.

First, have you visited the Khan academy online? They have a lot of great free math videos if you’re looking to review specific concepts ( sometimes seeing it can make the lightbulb click on where reading a theory man not)
Second, practice practice practice–and practice yourself in a TIMED setting. If you’re not in algebra right now, ask your math teacher for some worksheets they may have pre-made you can use for practice, or look for resources online.

Also, have you taken or considered taking the ACT? The math is a bit more advanced but the questions are more straightforward, unlike the SAT where they’re designed to be tricky.

One last point-- I know you mentioned you want to get your math score over a 700–that is a BIG jump (from about 45th percentile to 93rd percentile). If you’re doing well in CR but you’re looking to see another 700 on your score report, focus on the Writing section too.
