I just finished my last day of public school!

i know that monologue all too well!

risingjunior, I'm from the DEEP south too, and on top of that, I live in kind of a poor area, so people REALLY don't get it.

itsren- I'll be going to Asheville School, it's small and really fits me quite well.

hellosinshine, we should type up that monolouge and had it out on little buisness cards whenever someone asks us that Horrid question.

Dazzlezz, that's rough. At least I go to a semi-affluent melting pot of an area, so we have some wealthy New Englanders. We have a few kids at boarding school, but it's still not completely understood

Seriously!!!
It has to start with "My parents aren't 'sending me away', I'm choosing to leave" because seriously how many times have people asked or suggested that your parents are sending you away?

hellosunshine- Tell me about it. "Oh my god, I thought you were a good girl. What did you DO?" "I decided I wanted to challenge myself..." "Suuuure...."

every time someone asks me why i'm leaving,
i simply say to get smart and get into harvard,
and everyone understands becuase they realize this wont happen at my current school.

Well, this is what people say when I tell them I want to go to boarding school:

Person: Oh, so.. You're going to learn how to skateboard, snowboard, surf, or what?
Me: Umm...Why would I be learning how to snowboard?
Person: Didn't you say you were going to BOARDING school?
Me: ...

Lol that actually happened with this one kid, it was pretty funny.

wow thats great....lol

Hahahahaha. This kid asked me if I was going to learn how to ski. I bit stereotypical but I hope so. =) Hahaha

I was having this conversation with my friends about why I wanted to go to boarding school, saying things like "I really think living on campus will give me the opportunity to grow more as a person and academically. It will help me gain a lot of independence," and one guy goes "I think you're just going to boarding school to test your parents authority over you." My friends and I all cracked up, leaving this person dumbfounded, because we all know what a goody goody I am. : P

I can't say it's to get into a better college. MX's matriculation completely trumps my current school's but when I say that they say "Look at this year! Two Harvards, three Vandys, one Duke, one Yale, and some Emory's!" Too bad I don't want to go to any of those schools. Well, I'd love to go to Harvard or Yale. Just not the other two, and my first choice is Brown. Not on the list.
