I just got elected as the junior class president? I need ALOT of help!!!

Hi guys, well I just got elected and just got to say it was AMAZING. I was the underdog haha, but I need your help. Our class has been screwed by the former president. And I need to change things. Basically any suggestions would help. I was thinking of having a winter formal because we dont have one. Or have more class nights where we go out and get money for the class. But I need suggestions. Thanks guys!!!

I don’t think anyone will be able to help if you don’t elaborate on the situation. What did the former president do to screw your class? What events do you have already?

How about organizing something where the junior class does something good for your community? A cleanup of a park, volunteering together at an event, something for the school (brainstorm with your administrators). It makes people feel good and more connected.

Our class has only 1,000 dollars for prom… and thats over a span of two years. The events we have to raise money right now are class nights, where we take a share of profits from a restaurant of choice, and thats about it.

Hm, okay - first of all, congratulation on your election! It always feels good to get a position when you’re the underdog, especially if it’s something you’re really gunning for  Second of all, being in leadership, I know what a dire position it is to only have 1,000 dollars for an event that usually costs around a wedding (being said, that is only if you’re planning on renting a venue outside of school & not using your gym).
Some fundraiser ideas that have worked for us in the past are holding festivals - we did a winter wonderland, and collaborated with numerous clubs and had our own booth, as well as a light walk - that raised us a couple hundred, but if you play your cards right I’m sure you could earn more! (Plus, my school is a relatively small rural-ish school. So we don’t have that many people and organizations xP) I know we also built a haunted house in the past, and although you’d have to get approval for the wood and such and it would be hard work, I think it would be a popular fundraiser! Along those lines, you could organize a hay maze (again, lot of work). The class nights I think are a good start, but…hmm…
What about putting on a talent show? You’d charge for the tickets and give students a chance to showcase their talent. Or you could have some kind of donation competition in which the winner gets to do something humiliating (throw water balloons, put a pie in a face, etc.) to a popular faculty member, with proceeds going to ASB and/or the junior class.

Good luck for next year! I hope this helped, even a little. I know it all sounds like a lot of hard work, but you seem very capable and I know you can do a wonderful job as president

Thank You!!!
