Junior President... Help!

I was elected to be the upcoming Junior president, and now that the school year is almost starting, I'm really stressed. I just realized that my class has almost no funds due to previous lazy presidents. Does anyone have suggestions for an easy fundraiser?

And my responsibility is also to manage the fall ball for juniors, which is basically a prom. I hope my advisor will be helping me lol...

Well they should definitely be helping you with your fall ball because of the massive amounts of funds attached that they wouldn't hold just one person responsible. As for fundraisers, some people have been bringing up a battle of the bands which we do too in our school, and usually you just hold it in the school [so you don't need to rent a venue], sell snacks and beverages during intermissions, and charge what 5 a ticket and you'll be making it good b/c what you give some generally nice triple digit prize and that should get you making a few grand [at least in our school]. Also, well this is actually what we do for FBLA, but helps anyway, we hold about a thirty six team volleyball tournament which really works out well because there is no spending of money whatsoever, just profits to be found b/c you just ask the school one night to take out the gym and the nets and usually they're more then happy to, so...

here's an idea for the fundraiser:
Do what Tony said. But as for the prices:
Sell the ticket for $6.
Sell beverages (coke. pepsi...) for THE SAME PRICE as they are sold everywhere else! I wouldn't pay more than I have to for a coke.
With the rest of the snacks, make the prices a little high (but not rediculouslty high)

Ther airport here (the second country in my location) does that in the shops inside. They sell certain things for the same prices as outside but make other stuff incredibly high. I asked a salesman if they made a profit that way, he said that he makes more money than he would if he sold the cokes for double or triple the price.

i remembered that when i read the thread, it's a nice idea if you're looking for a big profit.

At my school when we have early releases we don't get lunch. Instead for fundraisers people sell pizza, soda, and other snacks for students to buy on their way to the bus or throughout the day. It works well. They charge like $1.50 for a slize of pizza (more or less depending on how much the pizza costs), $1.00 for sodas etc. They can make a lot of money for this throughout the year.

I was Junior Class President, also :)

Take some advice...
DON'T SWEAT IT :)

When I was elected, I was kind of nervous, of course, but it all worked out. I had to plan prom, too. If I were you, (to make it easier for you,) I would get together a prom committee to help you plan prom. Of course they will ask "Well, what's in it for me?"... It will look good on a college application for them. And I'm sure you have friends who wouldn't mind helping.

About the funding, fundraisers can be quite fun.
Think of some DIFFERENT ideas... not the average "bake sale" or "car wash"...
Some things that I thought of were a student-faculty basketball or dodgeball game... which were very successful because ofcourse all the students wanted to see the teachers face off against the students. It was hilarious. We charged people to watch and we charged people to play... $$$!!

Another fundraiser we did was selling flowers.
And t-shirts that had school logo's on them.

Think of things that kids in your school will WANT to attend.

Like I said - - - Don't sweat it. It will all work out.

Sincerely, Lauren
