I just paid 57 dollars for a hoodie.. wait what?

I went to Explore USC and loved it, so naturally I wanted something to show my USC pride... went by the bookstore... picked out a hoodie... for some reason didn't look at the price tag... and was nastily surprised at the register. I was so shocked that I didn't think to say "nevermind," but just sort of dumbly handed over my debit card. We were in a hurry to get to the airport so I didn't go back and return it. I looked online and there's stuff for much cheaper... I'm from Illinois so I'm probably not going to be back at USC until fall, and I may not even end up going there if I don't get the Trustee.

So I know this isn't really a huge deal but what do you guys think? Should save the receipts and keep the tags on and return it? Or just suck it up?

I’ve seen a lot of posts on this forum. But this… This is a first.

Sorry I know it’s kind of stupid.

That’s a shame… maybe they will do something where you can ship it back as a return??

There is a return timeframe, so you need to decide fairly quickly. I think it might be 30 days.

Definitely check on the return timeline and procedure in case you decide to return it. Just as a reality check, though, you will find this to be a typical price for many college sweatshirts in the college bookstores. And yes, you can find almost anything at a college bookstore cheaper online!

Like everything else about college, sweatshirts are expensive these days— especially if they are licensed and sanctioned.

Haha yeah. Oook thanks for the advice!

It seems like way more effort than its worth to deal with returning it.

(fight on!)

yeah that’s kind of what I’m thinking alwaysleah.

Consider it a life lesson learned…

How much will you save over the cheaper version once you factor in the shipping cost and time involved?

Will it fit anyone else in your family?

Did you have a good time at USC?

Do you want a memento of that experience even if you don’t go there?

Do you ship the Mickey Mouse ears back to Disneyland once you get home?

It’s called buyers remorse. It’s why candy bars and People magazine are at the checkout lanes in supermarkets.

It’s a souvenir of a good time and a fond memory. Twenty years from now the $20 difference will be the punch-line to a good story. Wear it. Enjoy it. You never know, it might be the first of many.

Maybe the karma will come back to you? You are so happy at USC you forget to look at the pricetag on the sweatshirt. That Trojan spirit goes up into the ether and comes back in just a few weeks as… a big Trustee scholarship? Way more than the $57 “investment” in a happy future at USC?

:) Hope Explore went well!

I like that madbean. Good thinking. I hope it turns out that way.

The cheaper versions just shrink up and look old and worn out quickly. Enjoy it!

I also bought one. Currently at USC with son during Explore USC event interviewing for Presidential scholarship. Loving the USC campus. I love the shirt and wearing it with pride!!! Not worth the complaint from the original poster of this thread. If he didn’t like it, he wouldn’t have bought it on the first place. Fight On!!!

YEAH!!! FIGHT ON!!!

a

My BIL lives in Germany and has been wearing the same sturdy USC hoodie for over 10 years. Many of these items of spirit wear are great quality and last forever. Maybe there is a message in that sweatshirt.

Sorry, not trying to complain! I also love USC and its a very nice (if slightly expensive) hoodie. And again, it’s probably not a very big deal.

think of it as USC welcome present… because you are going to deal with some pretty ridiculously high prices on campus for four years :D

My first SC hoodie was like 10 dollars and I picked it up from Steve and Barrys which no longer exists >_<
