and she put the biggest smile on my face. She is the nicest women you can possibly meet. I went to visit the campus and walked to the undergraduate admissions office and it was closed so as I was walking out, some lady comes in and says "can i help you" with an attitude. I told her I heard the decisions were made and if I can possibly look at them. She starts getting mad and says go to the site it says may 1st, and heres the interesting part , she says "were not even done with the decisions yet", she said the staff is going to pull an all nighter this weekend to finish all the decisions. Then she introduced herself as the director of admissions. And she said she is the one that ultimatley chooses who gets in. Anyways, she saw how excited I was and she asked what my major was. I said psychology. She said that is highly impacted, she said for the social sciences she has for 2006 about 1600 applicants and room for about 300 students. Thats poly sci majors, econ majors, psych, majors, all that.

And this is what put a smile on my face. She says did you finish the IGETCI. I said yes. She said have you finished all your courses for your major. I said yes. She said whats your GPA , I said 3.85. She said "dont worry about it, your probably in"

I thought I would share this with yall. If your stats are similar to mine than you should be happy. The one thing that worried me is that if they are cramming all the decisions left for this weekend , than wont that cost some of thier decisions to be rushed and not accounted for correctly. I am sure they are all competent individuals and they know exactly what they are doing but its a thought.

Then again, we can all just be glued to our computers untill May 1st. I know I am. BTW, Berkeley is beautiful and the people there are too nice. Just walking across the campus by myself I made some friends.

Anyways, I already have a place Im going to take over my sisters place. Its right on top of "Blondies Pizza" on telegraph ave which is a 20 sec walk to Berkeley's campus. Yall should come visit and have pizza once were all in. GOOD LUCK!!

maybe shes the director of undergraduate admissions for transfer students, she was pretty big I can tell you that. and ya, the reason why is because they rather admit the students that have FINISHED thier pre reqs so they can see how they did in them so they can have a better understanding of how they would perform at Cal. But no worries, a lot of people dont have thier pre reqs finished untill the spring semester

How about the application process for transfers?

At the transfer level, Berkeley selects students for admission based primarily on academic performance and preparation. This is assessed by a review of the college GPA, completion of lower division prerequisite courses for the college or major and, also, the pattern of grades. We may also consider extracurricular achievement, employment and personal qualities. We read about a third of the transfer applications comprehensively, including a review of the personal statement. In the future, we hope to be able to read more or all of our transfer applications.

Interesting... they only read a third of the transfer applications comprehensively??????

I hope you're right, reading that interview you posted, it says at the transfer level it's mostly academic performance and they factor in grade pattern and work experience. At least that is good for me, I got one B my first semester, than straight A's...plus good work experience, so maybe it'll make up for the pre req thing. Unfortunately I'm applying for econ, which I believe, is highly impacted...oh well

hmm, admissions staff pulling an all nighter? i only thought students do that. But, it's cal so anything is possible. BTW, i didn't apply there. I wish i did instead of UCSB, just to c if i get into CAl... unlikely.

mcajon, i think i've spoken to the same lady you spoke to!...so shes a little lightskinned, reminds me of condeleeza rice lol,...she was unapproachable but she was friendly after talking to her for a couple of minutes...she also has dark curly hair right...average height? same woman you think?

hey thats great mcajon. it must be so relieving to hear somebody like her tell you 'your probably in' haha
