essay: i enjoy writing, so i have written 2. one isn't great tho. yet.

other info:
i am a first generation student (both my parents moved from Bangladesh)
low income student

i reallly want to go to Washington U. in St. Louis, but i'm also applying to carnegie mellon, tufts, brandeis, columbia, brown, johns hopkins, NYU, maybe vanderbilt/emory/cornell

please tell me if i could make it (Reach, match) !! and maybe recommend more schools? i know a lot of these are reaches

those seem like good fits for you. your stats might not be the best among half of those colleges but your backgrounds and EC’s are fantastic, so you have a good chance. if you can get your SAT’s up and write excellent essays, you definately have a shot at those reaches

Your grades are very so-so. If you’re a Bengali from the East Coast, you’d be dealing with a competitive applicant pool. I dunno what SAT II’s you took or the number of AP’s.

But your EC’s aren’t bad and are actually quite strong; you’re not only well-rounded, but you’re focused and take what you do quite far. I can get a decent idea of what you’re passionate about just by looking at your activities, which is great.

So here’s my take:

Washington U. in St. Louis (I don’t think you would be able to get in RIGHT NOW. You should DEFINITELY retake your SATs because WashU only looks at your Math and Verbal scores, which aren’t so hot for you.) If you break 2200, WashU would be a fit.

carnegie mellon (possibly, then again raise your scores), columbia (Your EC’s kinda fit Columbia’s “Renaissance kid” mold. But you need to RAISE YOUR SCORES for Columbia. I’d shoot for mid 2200s at least)

thanks for your replies & support HermanYoopzel and yangx88!!

in response to yangx88: by the end of high school, i will have taken AP bio, AP chem, AP human geo, AP calc BC, and AP physics B. So far I have gotten a 5 on AP bio, and a 3 on AP Chem (that one’s not so great, i know). But for SAT IIs, I got an 800 on Bio and a 740 on Math IIc.
yeah, i’m hoping to majorly increase my sat scores. i’ve been studying every day and getting tutored once a week.
