I know that this question might annoy some, but I’d really appreciate an answer to this question.

What GPA does one need to get the Magna Cum Laude distinction?

For Phi Beta Kappa, the website says 17 As in 5 semesters. Do most/all students who have that many As get the distinction?

I don’t understand why Brown has to be so vague about it. If anyone knows further details, please enlighten me.

Thanks!

Brown doesn't calculate GPA, so for Magna, you be in the top 20% of the class measured by number of As and S with distinctions and the number of semesters you've been at Brown.

For PBK, you need 17 As to be even considered. Then, the current members of PBK (who were inducted as juniors) vote on each candidate. This prevents people who took a lot of guts from getting into PBK.

Thanks so much, RaboKarabekian. Would you happen to know around the number of As one would need to get Magna?

Also, what counts as a gut class? Intro Level? EN 9 and 90? I have no clue.
