I'm a college freshman, and I have already decided I'm switching schools. I know it is not too far into the year, but it is very clear to me that I made the wrong decision in picking my college. It was somewhat of an impulse decision, and now I'm regretting it. I now want to transfer to my original first choice (which I was admitted to and received a scholarship from), but I'm not sure when the best time to do that would be.

First, I DO want to give my current school a chance, so something tells me to stick it out for the whole year and see how I feel then. On the other hand, the thought of returning after Christmas break for another semester is so unappealing, I don't even know where to begin.

Second, comes the question of rush. I am going to go through sorority recruitment, no matter what school I end up at. My current school has deferred rush, that is, they rush in the spring, when we come back from Christmas break. The school I want to transfer to does fall rush. If I transferred at the end of this first semester, I'm afraid I would just get totally lost and left out of the social scene because everyone already has their new friend groups for the year. However, thinking about it, a semester with no affiliations could be good, as i could make friends with people all over (whether in sororities or not) and also get to know the sorority girls more, so that I know what house I would want to rush if I rushed as a sophomore.

Rush honestly is the biggest complication. Other than that, I'm not sure whether it's more beneficial to stay just until the end of this semester or until the end of the year, if it even matters at all.

Any input is really appreciated!! thank you!
