i know it is wrong but...

hey! so yesterday i was at the campus visiting deciding if i should go here next year. i paid for parking, but lost track of time. when i went to go pay for parking again, i had a ticket. i know i deserved it, but i am asking if they can do anything to me if i dont pay it. i decided not to go here, rather to a college in new york. it is like 30 bucks, which could go to other college expenses. i feel i was gipped because i was only 30 minutes late...... idk...advise?

Cough up the $30 and clear your conscience. You never know if this in your grad school list. (I’m a parent … I would advise my D the same.) :)

Lol $30 wouldn’t cover anything for college expenses. Pay your ticket.

Also, it doesn’t matter that you decided not to go to UW…don’t show them disrespect just because you won’t be a student there.

Pay the ticket because they will find you eventually. They will match up the license plate and send the bill plus late fee to the car owner. If it’s a rental car, the car rental company will bill you plus their own charge. If you keep ignoring it, it will be turned over to collection agency. Not worth the hassle IMHO.

haha i guess i will. but i think dont think its disrespectful i paid for a parking pass, and i would of paid for another couple hours but i was going on a tour to possibly spend $100,000 for them. by the time i found my way back to my car, i had a ticket. i asked for a sign if i should go here, and i got one. but in college 30 bucks could add to something. money is money

You had a parking permit for a set amount of time - I’m sure whoever handed that to you let you know how many hours you had (or parking meter would have said). The fact is, you got there late, and now you have a ticket. I know you probably feel frustrated because you got lost in a university with a campus you’re not familiar with, but you really should pay the parking ticket. Maybe you consider this to be a sign, but I would also take it as a personal experience and a lesson for the future, in case a similar situation comes up.

Think about it. There’s enforced parking for a reason. You’re lucky it was a parking ticket and you hadn’t parked someplace where the car could have been towed.

wow, it’s $30.

I would be very careful. Don’t get sent to collections for a stupid reason. I got sent to collections for a $20 library fee that I forgot to pay, and that blemish on my credit report has prevented me from getting good car insurance rates, renting an apartment, etc.

ha i just might. i have a job and money. but i just wanted to know if they could do anything about it
