Hey everyone thanks for taking the time to read this i do appreciate it. I apologize ahead of time for any grammar and spelling mistake I am on my phone I just completed my first year at a community college got my GPA up high enough to go to my dream college. I leave in nine days to move into my dorm does anyone have any tips or advice on moving packing and getting settled into dorm life for the first time all advice would be much appreciated. :)

Check the Parents Cafe for threads about move in, things to buy, etc.

I would recommend using a move in list to help you with the most general packing stuff. However, I found it to be more useful to keep a list of what I used during the week to decide what I should bring with me (nail clippers and tweezers are often forgotten).

Start packing NOW! You are going to want to organize your things as much as you possibly can to make moving in easier. You will likely want under the bed storage containers and bed risers.

You will also want to bring personal items to make the space feel safe. While this sounds silly, it is the one place on campus that is yours (and potentially your roommate as well). You are going to want those personal touches from home that will make it your space! This may be some pictures, posters, decorations, or blankets that make you happy. I have picture boards in my room as well as hand painted wine bottles that add an all mine kind of feel! I also have paper cranes and lanterns and giant posters for my room.

Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to ask!
