i love rice, 3.7 gpa

i am a junior in a very competitive high school.
my grades freshman year pretty much sucked, so i went from a 87 freshman year to a 92 sophomore, and on the rise again this year.

i'm smart, i just went to a test based high school with out knowing how to take tests because in my middle school i maybe took 2 tests a year.

i calculated my gpa on a 4.0 scale using rice's conversion system and got a 3.7.

i will have good sat scores (2300) and sat IIs hopefully 750 at least.

i am taking several APs and have plenty of extra curriculars, so my biggest problem is my gpa.

really just want to know if it is at all possible for someone with a 3.7 gpa to get it.

please help me!

How do you know you’ll have a 2300 SAT?

because i am determined.
and have a master study plan.

Ok, it’s great to hope for that, but don’t rely on it. If you’re not a good test takers it will be really hard. Also if you are a good test taker it will be really hard. There are many people who study for insanely long times and can’t get a score that high.

If everything is as great as you say it is, and your hypothetic situation works out, then you have a pretty good shot at Rice. However, I want to emphasize that, as you are only a sophomore and haven’t seen how everything is going to turn out, I wouldn’t rely on it.

Also, what was your PSAT score? If you want to get a 2300 as a senior, you’re most likely going to have to be above 200 as a sophomore, probably higher.

Is your GPA weighted or unweighted?

Do not convert your GPA unless your school specifically asks you to. Rice accepts the numeric grade as is. I submitted all my scores as %, not a letter grade GPA.

Couple other things: What is your rank? I applied and got in with an 82 cumulative average, although I was second in my class. At the end of the day, the score matters much less than how everyone else did and what the Strength of Schedule is.

my school doesn’t do ranks, but i think 50% of the people at my school have above an 85 average, so im in the top 50%.

by Strength of Schedule, if you classes
-Japanese (for 3 years)
-computer science -93
as a junior:
-ap bio
-ap us history
-ap language and composition
as a senior:
-ap lit
-ap chem
-ap micro or macro economics
-ap calc

oh and the gpa is unweighted

Can you get a more specific %? Like top 5%, top 15% etc.

Top 50% is a large pool and if you are close to the mean, it will be very hard to get in.
