Hi everyone! I'm going to be a high school senior next fall, so I started my college search a couple of months ago. I found out about Tufts while watching a NOVA episode, and fell deeply and madly in love almost instantly. I haven't visited yet (later this month!!) but as of now (well, assuming I get in...) I can't imagine going anywhere else.

Anyway, here's the thing. I love anthropology, but I don't know very much/haven't heard much about anthropology at Tufts... Just that it wasn't on the "best schools for anthropology" list that my college counselor gave me. I've been involved in anthropology research for a while and am 99% sure that it's what I want to go into, so I want to make sure that there are loads of opportunities at whatever college I go to. That said, does anyone have any insight on Tuft's anthropology department?

Thanks so much!

I don’t have a clue about Tufts’ anthropology major, but here is their website if you haven’t found it already: <a href=“Homepage | Department of Anthropology”>Homepage | Department of Anthropology; There is a [list of alumni](<a href=“Homepage | Department of Anthropology”>Homepage | Department of Anthropology) as well; perhaps you could ask the anthropology department or the alumni office if they could give you the phone number or email of any of the people listed there?

Might I suggest Yale as well? I know an alumnus who majored in anthropology there, and they loved it.

I’d personally email or call the department at Tufts. Generally speaking, the people at Tufts have been very open to discussion. However, best thing for you to, in my opinion (which may not count for much), is to go on a tour when you visit. Afterwards, go ask a few people about discussing your questions about anthropology. I’m sure there are plenty of people who can help give you a better view.

You could also e-mail me (check the admissions website for my e-mail) and i can put you in touch with current anthro students. It’s a fabulous program.

Thanks everybody! I’ll be contacting Tufts (and Dan) to get more insight. I appreciate the help!
