Because Im in China, I dont have much information. So if you can tell me approximately how much chance I will have for the admissions for these colleges or suggest me something, that will be really helpful for me and I ll be really appreciated^^

It is very well understood that international students do not have the same english skills as native speakers. You would not be expected to have top verbal scores, although having such scores would certainly help. Your scores are solid for a non native speaker, but if you can raise them, then by all means do so. Have you taken the TOEFL yet?

if i apply UVa for ED,will my chance of getting in increase?i really appreciate your help. Also,i'm considering retake SAT in november, hoping to make verbal up to 600

I'm also Chinese (or Taiwanese, depending on your political standings) =) so I might be of some help.

I think what's missing here is the type of courses you've taken. What kind of classes did you take and were those the hardest offered in your school? If they were, you've got a good chance imo.

But definitely try to raise that verbal score, and get as high a TOEFL as possible. The studying in Australia's a very interesting point, try to emphasize that. I'm sure the admissions officers would be interested in what you have to say about it. Good luck!

Who said that? Oh wait I did haha. I consider myself Taiwanese actually. =P Why would you appreciate that I consider myself Chinese? We're all Asian..

While we're on the subject of Taiwanese VS Chinese, is there huge rivalry or any between the Taiwanese Students Association and Chinese Stuents Association?

There may not be HUGE rivalry between them.....but coz most of Chinese consider Taiwan a part of China and consider this as undeniable, when Taiwanese say that they are not Chinese,it might cause some disagreement.however,we go to US in order to study, not to argue about political view.

You even have a chance of being selected as an echol scholar...so dont worry.I am chinese too and I was named as an Echol with a reading score of 640. I know chinese students who were also echols with even lower scores. But definitely try to raise ur reading score and write a good essay...
