So I asked my coach to write me a recommendation letter for UNC and he agreed and I trust that he wrote a good letter. However, the letter was specific to UNC and had little things like “[my name] has talked about how UNC is his first choice” and other things like “I know [my name] will fit in with the Tar Heel community.” The only problem is, I didn’t know the letter was specific to UNC, and I submitted the exact same letter to Northeastern and Case Western as well. Will this result in an instant rejection? I know that some colleges will instantly reject students for doing that with supplementary essays.
I made a HUGE mistake in submitting my recommendation letters and I don't know if this will result i
How was it submitted? Typically, the teachers are the ones doing the submitting, and the student doesn’t even see them. Just wondering how you submitted it directly to the other colleges (and hoping, for your sake, maybe it wasn’t submitted to those other schools?)
I don’t think it will result in an instant rejection, but of course, it doesn’t look good. However, it will probably be unclear as to whose mistake it was, and if the teachers are the ones who are supposed to be doing the submitting, it looks like the teacher’s mistake. I think if this was me I would ask my college counselor’s advice, and/or possibly ask the coach if he could write the two letters specific to the other schools and resubmit them.
