I did really good in my Freshmen year but I did pretty bad in my sophomore year. My weighted GPA was a 4.0 and now its a 3.9 because Im taking Pre-IB classes and its all new to me. However my unweighted GPA is a 3.3 because i have a 2.8 in my sophomore year. Do you think that this is going to affect me when I try to apply to colleges? Are they most likely going to look at my weighted or unweighted GPA?
It will affect you, but it’s also just one semester of grades. Maybe you should try to take a courseload that you’ll do really well with next year? Yes, colleges like to see rigor, but they also like to see you succeed in your classes. Most schools will recalculate your weighted gpa if they use it because every school weighs things differently, and your weighted gpa would likely go down in doing so.
