I'm a senior in High school and I am begining to apply for colleges. I'm the first to go on to college in my family and am VERY Ambisious. I'm so confused about this whole college situation and what I should do. I don't know what to major in nor, what I want to do in the future. I'm currrently taking Pre-Calc., college writing, and accouting. I'm soon going to take Calculous, anotomy and phys., physcology. I really enjoy science and Math. I'm not an english or history person at all. I used to want to go into pharmacy but changed my mind. It's hard for me to ask my family about college because no one has the experience. Is it okay to be undecided while applying to colleges? Will that lessen your chance of getting in? I have the potential to go extremely far in my life. My class rank is 74 out of 316, not too bad. My GPA is around 3.4, not to bad either. Any advice will help, what do I major in?

Yes.

No.

In most cases you can spend the first two years at college taking courses to help you decide on your major. An exception is if you want to study engineering, which usually requires a structured four year plan of study.

Does your high school have a college counselor? You should make an appointment to see him/her, or talk to your regular counselor, as soon as possible. Have you taken any standardized tests (SAT or ACT)?

There is a college search feature on collegeboard.com that can be very helpful. You don't sound undecided; it looks like you are headed toward studying science and possibly entering the medical field at some level. If so, keep that as your focus and look for schools that offer training or internships in that area to help you get started in the work world once you've graduated..
