Hello, I'm the new guy in this website. I'm going to be a senior this upcoming fall. I would appreciate it if you guys and gals could give me words of advice. I am really struggling at the moment and I having a writers block. Thank you for your time. :)

-Shaun

don’t wait for inspiration to strike. just write something. procrastination is not the way to go. it’s better to have several drafts to choose from than to wait for that perfect essay to emerge. if you have writer’s block, start free associating on paper using a mindmap technique. look up tony buzan. after you free associate, then pick an area of the mindmap that you would like to put into prose. for example, start with the central bubble your hobbies. what’s connected to them? expand and elucidate subbubbles. keep going on, until the map is substanial. it doesn’t have to be perfect. it just has to make sense to you now because it’s a personal thing. the only thing that has to make sense is the final essay that other people will read. bottomline, get going. good luck!

Awesome! Thanks man. I have my intro done. Can a senior member read it?

^I’m a senior0991 member. Could I read it? Anyways, if you want, PM with prompt and where you want to go (with the essay, that is).

Anyways, my advice:
-wait for inspiration to strike.
-don’t write something until then.
-it’s better to have that perfect essay than several crappy drafts
-your map needs to be perfect
-bottomline, wait for inspiration. don’t get going yet
-luck is not needed if you follow my advice ;)

But seriously, no need to feel rushed, but don’t procrastinate. Get a few essays done now, and then if a flash of creativity happens later, even better. And if inspiration strikes at 2 AM, you better get that sucker on paper quick. Don’t disregard novel ideas simply because you already have an essay. I kinda did, and I regret it.

Thank you again. I have written my first body paragraph. As of now, I’m doing prompt 2 which is,

"Prompt 2: Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are?
This prompt also has two parts:

Part 1: Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you.

Part 2: What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are?". I will try to finish up my 2nd body paragraph by tomorrow.

Bump. Can someone review my 1st body paragraph? That would be awesome.
