I need CULTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a sophomore looking for a cultural immersion(and/or)study program for the month of July. I'm interested in spanish/french programs. I'm from a middle class family, but my parents are not at all willing to send me abroad to France/Spain because of the costs. I have suggested going to poorer countries such as Senegal or South America rather than France or Spain, but they are vehemently against that too, saying it's not safe. So I'm looking for programs in the U.S. or even in my vicinity (the New Jersey/ New York area). If anyone has any info, please share!

So what exactly do you want to do? Learn about spanish culture? Try a community college or private school.

At Concordia Language Villages they take away all of your English books, magazines, etc, and you speak only French/Spanish during the "official" parts of your two or four week sessions - although kids speak English to each other walking around the campus or back in the bunks. The counsellors are mostly native speakers (cool South American Spanish counsellors) - and Bemidji Minnesota and their other campuses pretty darn safe (to meet your parents' concerns). Check into it quickly though - I would imagine that by now most July sessions are filling up.
