Looking for a summer program... HELP.

I'm looking for a summer camp to study either French or Spanish.

Spanish-Speaking countries that I want:
Spain
Argentina

French-Speaking countries that I want:
France
Canada (Quebec, only)
Switzerland (Geneva area)

** I am also willing to consider camps that are at high schools or universities in the US. The minimum age requirement must be 14 or for students entering 9th grade.

I would like to spend a few hours per day on language, not just a few minutes. I also want to have fun. I would prefer that there are optional excursions as well.

Thanks a lot.

Argentina is mad awesome, but not in the summer (it's cold there). Go to Spain.

If you have a lot of money, you can do the Barcelona program that Columbia University offers. It's like ridiculously expensive though. You can find it on their website (<a href="http://www.ce.columbia.edu/hs%5B/url%5D">www.ce.columbia.edu/hs</a> or something like that).

If you have a more normal budget, you could do ASA or Putney (that's also really expensive) or one of those.

I looked at the one with Columbia but it's for students entering grades 11 or 12.

I'll look at ASA and Putney.

What's ASA stand for? I can't find anything on it.

I looked at Putney and it's pretty expensive. There's only one program for eighth graders. (Costa Rica... blds;gdfgf.) It's over $5,000.

<a href="http://www.asaprograms.com/home/asa_home.asp%5B/url%5D">http://www.asaprograms.com/home/asa_home.asp</a></p>

I'm too young.

I will be 14 next summer and entering the ninth grade.

Oh... Well, if you're qualified enough, I'm sure they'd take an exception.

Honestly, if I were you, I'd go with International Summer Camp Montana. Seriously, if you want a good camp, that's a good camp.

Concordia Language Villages - lots of language imersion, lots of fun, not terribly expensive.

jonathan -- my son is also turning 14 this coming July, but entering 8th grade (weird cut-offs in Indiana) and also looking to study Spanish.

I have looked at tons of different programs (money if a factor to us) and haven't found alot for that age. He is going to apply to one of the two week camps at Concordia language village. As far as a quality program he is old enough for and in our budget -- that is all I have found so far.

If I find something else, i will post it.

have you contacted middlebury college, their langague schools? They are going to offer summer program for middle and high school students beginning either this summer or next at different locations on east and west coasts.

rhino - any idea when Middlebury will make a decision as to whether they'll start next summer?

I filled out the survey on Middlebury's website. It seems like the perfect program for me, but I didn't know that they made the decision to actually put it in to action! Thanks for telling me. I'd LOVE to take a language course at Middlebury. Do you have any more information?
