Hi, I took the SSAT in December and scored low. I wanted to take it again cause I got a 60 . It was scheduled for Feb. 6. Then it snowed and all the places in new jersey got canceled except mine but my dad said they maybe didn't update the website so I didn't go. Now I have to wait until March 6th to take it. Do you think it will get there?

And BTW, I am in the 8th grade, a girl. I am signing up to girl schools like Miss Halls, Emma Willard, Westover, Ethel Walker, Dana Hall, Garrison Forest and others. Thanks ;)

This is a question best asked of the admissions office. They should be able to tell you. Also, look at the average ssat score of the schools to which you are applying. Does the 60 fall in line with them? Do you have high grades? Are you trying to get a scholarship?

Again. I’d ask the school. When they say that if you have any questions, they will answer them, I think they mean it. (Or I hope so, anyway! )

Hmm. I get A’s. Lmao. I was valedictorian. And I have good recommendations and ex. curricular. I believe a 60 does but I want to have it above the average. :)

I did a quick boardingschoolreview search for you and found the following averages

Dana Hall 58
Emma Willard 65
Ethel Walker 60
Westover 61

So it looks like your December results are OK.

(There wasn’t any data for Garrison or Miss Halls)

It also looks like they all have rolling admissions in addition to the regular deadline. If you are applying for FA, it may matter, but I’d go ahead and send the December results and see if you can get a private flex test administered if March will be too late. Again, call the schools and ask them what they think you should do.

Those grades, recs and ECs count too! I understand wanting to make it all as good as you can, but I don’t know if the ssat is that terribly important at those schools. Key words in the previous sentence: “I don’t know” :)

A flex test is the ssat given to one person by someone like a consultant or Sylvan of something like that. I have no idea how much more it costs. I’m sure there is info on the website.

Even though your test location was not officially cancelled, it’s still worth a shot getting a reschedule. It looks like today is the last day to do this so you should probably check it out.

There are lists on the homepage of effected sites. If yours isn’t on there, call anyway and tell them that even though yours was not officially cancelled, the weather conditions prevented you from making it to the site and can you please make it up at one of the listed sites. It can’t hurt to ask.

I tried to schedule one. They said my name wasnt on the list for the other schools. So I couldn’t. Do you think calling will make a difference? I can give it a shot. I am really desperate for this test to be honest. o-o I studied hard. xD Anyways, I might as well schedule one for March 6th. Do you believe it’d get there in time?

I don’t know whether it would get there “on time” or not. You should really call the schools to find out.

If you call ssat and elaborate on the snow drifts keeping your father from taking you and they still don’t allow, inquire about a flex test. They should be able to give you all the details regarding costs and how to find someone to administer it. Those results would get there fairly quickly.

I really think you’ll be OK. I might just be one of those things you cannot change.

As for 1000th post…that’s kind of depressing! I’ve spent far too much time on CC. Of course it’s been nearly 2 years! I wonder if I could filter out the snarky comments, stupid questions, and times when I got sucked into a stupid ■■■■■-fed thread and determine how many of those 1000 posts were actually useful!!

why cant u have a flex test? I really don’t think we should have to pay that the SSAt should because they delayed it and I had prior engagements that weekend now, i am in risk of not making it into the first round of admissions
