MAY I HAVE UR OPINION?
will they flat out reject me for my inadequate SSAT score?
i am taking the february ssat tooo - SHOULD I send in my january test (72%ile) now, and email them about the upcoming feb score as well?
I think that your SSAT score is low but if your teacher’s wrote good recommendations you could easily get in. I don’t think you can submit your February scores but you can email the schools. Best of luck!
I am in a similar situation. I sent my previous scores. On the off chance they go down, id want them to have the better ones. Not sure about Deerfield, but I know Andover superstores and I think Exeter says they look at all the scores. I think you’ll have to have the February scores sent directly without seeing them first, and yes I’d also let the schools know they’re coming. Good luck! The next two weeks won’t be very fun but hopefully it will be worth it!
First off, you have a very strong application. However, you now have to jump over at least two hurdles - a low SSAT score and being international. I do not know if you need financial aid or not, but if you do, that will reduce your chances even more. It’s not impossible, but like so many have said before, if you only applied to these three schools, you may be disappointed March 9th.
@ThomasBr I know that applying to only these 3 schools is very risky, however, these are the only school I really think suits me. I know that there are less competitive BS out there but if I were to spend the next 3 years of my life, I’d want to do it somewhere I am comfortable in.
I am a full pay, so I do not need financial aid at all.
Also, there are only 2 students from my country that is currently in Andover - my country of origin isnt like China, Singapore or HK, where there are so many applicants.
I am very committed in Community service, and my AO who interviewed me was the Community engagement counselor yay!!!
hopefully i’ll hear some enlightening news on march 9th!!
@MaylaSunshine yes!!! I am taking the February SSAT scores and have emailed them in regard to this since months ago!! Thank you for being really kind. I will work hard these 2 week I have
@citcatcronin yes!! I think that my recommendations were stellar, especially my special reccomendation for it was written by someone important related to the united states officials (but I’m afraid I wasn’t allowed to tell). BUt anyways thankyouuu!!!
You will not be “flat out rejected for an inadequate SSAT score”, but you should have applied to three or four more boarding schools. Being a full pay student should help.
It would be helpful to know what you expect boarding school to be & why you want to attend a US boarding school.
Why do you think those are the only schools where you would be comfortable?
They are the most famous and the largest… but they don’t have a monopoly on the best teachers or the best students. (Some schools are even harder to get into, whether you are a student or a teacher seeking a job.)
If you truly believe you wouldn’t be comfortable elsewhere, I would question whether boarding school is right for you. Boarding school is about pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone, taking risks, learning to fail. If you are completely comfortable at boarding school, you aren’t truly taking advantage of the experience.
