<p>Over-represented simply means present on the campus in larger numbers than in the general population (under-represented means present in fewer number than in the general population). Thus, if women represent 51% of the population, but comprise 75% of the student body (as they do at Sarah Lawrence), at that school, males (who make up 49% of the general population, but who represent only 25% of the student body) are an under-represented group. The terms have nothing to do with the strength of either groups applications.</p>

<p>I was not advising a course of action, just explaining the terms - - though CP's app would get a "bump" at math/sic/tech prgms with low female enrollment.</p>
