I am taking the September Exam and I am seriously nervous now. I took my first practice test today and got a composite score of 24.

I got a 27 in English, a 20 in Math, 25 in Reading, and 25 in Science.

I didn't know until after I took the exam that guessing is your best bet, so I left the ones i didn't get to complete blank.

I had three extra minutes for English, but ran out of time for math(I got up to question 45), reading(I had to skim the last passage and left two blank), and science(I didn't get to the last passage).

Now I know better to guess rather than leave it blank, but I seriously need help. This is NOT the score I want to have. I wasn't nervous, so to imagine how I'll do on test day makes me really scared.

Are there any tips that you could give me for managing time better? Any ways to improve my Math, Reading, and Science score? and Is it impossible to get higher than a 30 by September 13?

I'm taking another practice exam tomorrow, so if there is any tips/tricks I could figure out tonight, I'd really appreciate it!

Thank you!

English- on the questions about redundancy the shortest answer is right 99% of the time. Also, pay attention to where each sentence starts and stops to avoid comma errors.

Math- do more work in your head and write less on paper (just like our teachers taught us NOT to do) to save more time. Read the question and really think about it for 5-10 seconds then begin to solve it. This will help you understand the question and avoid solving it the long way.

Reading- read the passage at a comfortable pace (aim for 3 - 3.5 min).
Major tip: if an answer choice was not 100% stated in the passage then it is likely wrong (the answer that sounds the best to you is not always the correct answer. Find the one that was actually stated in the passage.)

Science- the science passage is broken up into 3 types of passages: 3 data representation, 3 research summary, and 1 conflicting viewpoints passage. You can identify which is which by the amount of questions. Data representation have 5 questions. Research summaries have 6. Conflicting viewpoints have 7. Always do the data representation passages first because they can be completed in the shortest amount of time, giving you easy points. Next do research summaries. Skim the passage but make sure you understand it. Finally, do the conflicting viewpoints passage. Skim the intro just to get the gist of it. Then read each viewpoint and identify the reasons they disagree before moving on to the questions

General tips:
Always answer every question even if you have to guess.

Take more practice tests to get better at timing

I got a 30 in june and am retaking in september. I wish you the best of luck and feel free to inbox me if you have any more questions
