I'm a rising junior. I'm starting an SAT prep course in a few days and I'm planning to take the test in March 2013.

I haven't taken a practice test recently. I took one in freshman year, and I got a 1500. So for now, I have no idea where I'm at. Let's just say my score is around a 1600.

Is 6-7 months enough time to go from an average score to a 2200+? I have until mid-August to study, and I can put it about 4-5 (maybe even more) hours daily. After school starts I'll only have an hour a day (tons of homework).

It’s not about how much time you put into it, it’s about how effective your preparation is. If you prepare effectively and efficiently, you can score 2200+.

I think it’s enough time as long as you prepare effectively. I advise you to buy collegeboard’s blue book. Take one of the tests so you know for sure what your score is.

I got a 175 on my PSAT, and then decided to put in an hour to two hours a week doing prep on my own. My first SAT was in June and I got a 2200, you can probably be spending your time on many better things than slavishly working for the college boards approval.
Best of luck

Definitely possible. While working hard is very important for preparing for the SAT exam, it’s good that you have at least an hour every day. Just don’t forget to maintain good grades in school.

Raising a score 600 points is like… 100 points per month?? Haha that’s a good challenge ^^
Good luck! And ask others on College Confidential about raising your score if you need it!
