Hi, I have some questions about college. I was originally class of 2010 in high school, but some issues in the neighborhood led to me to be sent to a boys school for 3 years. This happened January of 2010, so I did not get to graduate on time with the 2010 class. Instead I graduated in August of 2011. I have a 3.2 GPA and when I was released in January of 2013, I registered to take the ACT Test (No Writitng). I just got my scores today and I have a composite score of 26. Is this good?

Ive applied to Cal State San Bernardino, Eastern New Mexico University, South Dakota State University, and Texas Southern University. Do I have a good chance of being accepted into any? Also I applied to SDSU and TSU in March. Will I be given aid or have housing available? Am I too late?

Also can someone please explain the financial aid process. Do I need to make any tuition or fee payments before I go to college? Like books?

Thanks in advance for any help!

You can google the Common Data Set for each to see how your stats compare with admitted prior classes. Section C will show you the admit rate and stats.
Those are out of state public universities. You most likely will be given federal aid (Stafford loan which has to be repaid and a Pell Grant if you are very low income). The max you’ll get from that is ~$12K for freshman year. Have you looked up the cost of attendance at each to see what it will cost you?
You will need to pay for the semester up front. Go to the Financial Aid forum and read through some of the threads, particularly the stickies at the top of the forum.

The OOS costs for SDSU and ENMU is a little over 9000$. The cheapest for OOS schools which is why I applied. Thank you for your help!

Good job on picking lower cost schools but the number you are quoting does not include room and board or only covers one semester. [Cost Estimate](Cost Estimate) [Tuition and Fees](<a href=“404 Error – File Not Found”>404 Error – File Not Found) An alternative would be starting at a CCC and transferring to a CSU or UC. Would you be covered by a Cal Grant?

Yes I would be covered by a Cal Grant for California schools. When thinking of OOS schools, I chose ENMU and SDSU also because I have family in both locations so I would have to live on campus.
