Finishing community college next year and I need to decide the best choice for me, I major in finance and I would prefer a business school with great employment rate to Investment Banking. Since schools like Haas, Ross, McCombs, or Darden are kinda out of reach because of attendance cost, I am thinking about a few names such as:
- IU Kelley
- UIUC
- UW Madison
- UNC Kenan-Flagler
- OSU Fisher
- Others please mention?
I finish approx. Fall 2017 and I must attend the university starting Spring 2018, some of the bus. schools don’t accept intakes for Spring terms, thus, some of them also require me to take extra semester in the university prior entering the business school.
My plan is to finish no longer than 2 years (preferably only 4 semesters), so I prefer to graduate in Fall 2019 or max woule be Spring 2020. Will there be any great business schools accepting intakes for Spring terms and don’t require extra semester once I get admitted. I know at least UIUC actually doesn’t accept Spring enrollment for business school.
Any help around here?
what state are you/your parents a resident of? What’s your budget?
Darden may actually provide you with financial aid, whereas Wisconsin or Kelley are unlikely to, unless you’re instate.
How much will your parents pay? You have a lot of OOS publics that won’t give aid.
Sorry I forgot to mention that I am not a U.S. citizen, so it shouldn’t matter at all. LOL. I study in Seattle btw and some OOS schools may require much more complicated admission process. Especially since I’m trying to start Spring term.
I care about a great business undergrad school with good reputation for employers in Investment Banking area, and schools with scholarship or aid would be a plus. Tuition budget would not be much above 30k/year. I know it doesn’t include accommodations but the budget is within that range.
Ohio State with scholarship would definitely be my range, and Fisher school does accept admission for Spring terms, so it would be a pretty good reach. I am just convinced that there are many better business schools out there and I don’t know if Fisher is the door for IB jobs.
@MYOS1634 Are they pretty generous about scholarships for international students?
As an international transfer you have virtually no chance of getting scholarships anywhere.
I think UMN twin cities does offer some; tosu might but I haven’t heard so.
You may be better off with Washington universities - uwash, wwu, Washington State?
UWA only accept admission for summer and fall terms, heard that international students were offered scholarships by tOSU though, also UIUC @MYOS1634
Email each admissions office to know whether 1° they have merit scholarships for international transfers and 2° whether any are available in the Spring.
(Most Spring admits are expected to be full pay or instate, because financial aid has been given to Fall admits.)
Since you mentioned Ross, which is a three year program, check to see which of these schools are two year programs before you decide to apply.
Maybe there is a way to boost up the program by taking summer courses?
