Is anyone willing to give some last minute opinions?!?!?!!?

I have an opinion on which school you should choose, but my opinion - or that of others on this board - doesn't really matter.

Just know this: as you make big decisions like this, it is not at all unusual for there to be no clear-cut "right" answer. There are often reasons to go each way, just as there are for you at this crossroads.

Your choice here seems to be going with what feels safe and known, but has known disadvantages. And what feels less comfortable, because it is unknown. Both have strong programs for you.

Some people go through life never leaving the comfort zone - and they thrive in that. Their ties to their home area grow stronger all the time. They miss out on the broadening that comes with going away, the growth that comes sometimes with risk-taking. But they grow in place. Other people go for the new, the excitement, the challenge. (I was one of these). We sometimes envy those who are still where there roots were. But we wouldn't give up the experience of knowing other places, other cultures (even in our own country), of knowing that we can thrive in many different places, the rewards that come with risks. And we don't lose our roots; many of us maintain strong ties - even if from afar.
Nor do those who choose the comfortable forever give up the chance for trying someplace new in the future.

Good luck with decision. I wish you had a chance to visit Emory. I have been to Atlanta many times, but only once went by Emory. I saw outdoor cafes filled with students & was impressed by the area.

The airport is a hub, with easy access by the Metro line.

I just wanted to keep everyone posted and let you know that I have decided to go to Emory. Everyone really made good suggestions, and I am very grateful to all those who did!

I think that you made a good decision by accepting the challenge of going to the college that will stretch you more because of its distance from home.

Expect that you'll have to adjust to college, and realize that's the case for everyone even if they go to college only a short drive from their home. So, expect some ups and downs.

And do keep posting on Parents Forum about your experiences, successes, and concerns.

I join with others here in congratulating you on your college acceptances, and wishing you the best as you go off to college.
