This proposal is retroactive. Who's with me?

Depends.

If 87-89 would become an A-, I’m with you.

But if 87-89 would become a solid B, nahhh

I agree, B+'s are the worst thing on earth, especially since on your transcript it just translates to a regular B

Not only should they abolish B+'s, I think they should do grades pass/fail. A lot less pressure, ya know?

F’n hate that number, shudderss.

omg, Pass/fail would make me one happy camper.

I think grades should be Pass/Fail.

I’m not sure many of you realize the ramifications of a pure pass or fail system. You do realize that your 89s and 91s would become equivalent to 70s, right? It’d be one less way to stand out from the academic flock (which I presume is important to you, given the very existence of this thread).

Schools should change to Deerfield’s system You get a written evaluation of yourself instead of a stupid grade. Along with that you get letters, sort of ranking you the way A to F would, but to a more subjective extent. Then again this backfires when you have all the bias teachers and they hate you.

Get rid of Ds. If you get below a “satisfactory” C, you should be getting an F.

YES, Im all for pass/fail.

And vise-versa. WIN.

NO. The plus/- system enables colleges to get a better feel for an applicant’s academic prowess. Without it, we miht have around 10 valedictorians each year…in a class of 250…

I’m a full fledge support for this system, and would adore it if it was put into action here, but many schools, including mine, have way too many students to pull that off. All of my teachers know me, but I’m one of the few that has that relationship with their teachers.

that’s true, but it WOULD show which students are most active in class (since they’re the ones that have evaluations of content)

but yeah, I imagine 300 evaluations per teacher wouldn’t be the best thing for anyone. Hence this is why only deerfield has it =/

I hate the number 92.4. I’ve seen too much of those. Luckily we don’t have the plus/minus so a 92.5 looks the same as a 100.

I actually agree with this. A lot of the time people get D’s then don’t bother to retake, thus screwing them for college.

At my school most teachers have 90% for an A. Some allow 89 or 85.

I agree with you!

I would have all A’s if it weren’t for those dang B+ >.> (which is a 90-93.5)

I also agree.

The Deerfield system sounds interesting.

gah i hate my life i got an 88% or so in this really hard college class, which doesnt have +/- only B, so I got a B. 88% fuhhhhhhh

The most annoyiong number ever: 83.

I’m all for P/F.

Lol, I love how some of you guys are complaining about A-'s. I would kill to have more A-'s. You should see my school. Everyone’s freaking out because they all have 88’s of 89’s or 90’s and are hoping the final won’t kill their grades. Unfortunately most of the time the odds aren’t in their favor.

And tom, 88%s are the story of my life.

Haha, pass/fail would be awesome! Screw you people who are taking this seriously. Who cares if there are more valedictorians? Why not relax and spread the joy?

Dude, an 95 in an A- in my school. Please be happy that you don’t want to cry when you see an 94 B+. It is the absolute worst thing an honor roll student can experience.

When you get A’s all year and then screw up a final ever so slightly and end up with a 94, effectively giving you 3 points for a class.

That’s how I feel about my two exams tomorrow. If I don’t get at least a high C or B, I’ve screwed myself for the year… ><
