"I'd hit it"

With a bat.

Haha... :p

i think she's pretty

and i think she has a good voice..

but i don't like her - 'i am so punk because I play the electric guitar' attitude and her 'i am totally all punkrock and i hate pop and i hate hilary duff/linsey lohan/britney spears because they are so pop' .. Geez avril.. you are ONE OF THEM.

Sorry Bohemian, but I must tell you that Rilo Kiley = sellout.

And before you bash me for being too "scene," i'm going to tell you that I...wait..I am too much of an indie snob. Sorry, comment retracted.

Like the people who posted before me, her "attitudes"

"'i am so punk because I play the electric guitar' attitude and her 'i am totally all punkrock and i hate pop and i hate hilary duff/linsey lohan/britney spears because they are so pop'"

Also, I dislike anything mainstream.

Spartan,
I know your brethren well! LOL

Dang. She couldn't do justice to "Knockin' on Heaven's Door?" Even I can play that and I suck!

Hope she has plan B well thought out.

I have to say, I don't really understand the "sellout" mentality. Suddenly a band sucks because, gasp, more than 3 people like them?!?!?!

Yeah, I like Rilo Kiley. But honestly, who cares?

I think all musicians should be EXPECTED to write their own songs. I think we've just gotten to a point where we'll accept anything.

^I agree.

(+characters--sorry, can't think of anything insightful to add)

Sellout has more to do with changing your image and your music to fit a commercial image versus being innovative and creative and true to yourself.

Example: Coldplay was never great, but they have sold out to a "popular" image. They haven't changed their sound since Parachutes - X&Y is just an attempt to sell more record with an already popular sound. Radiohead is the biggest example I can think of of a popular band that hasn't sold out. Their style changes every album (Pablo/Bends, KidA/Amnesiac aside) - and people embrace their new music. They aren't afraid to innovate, aren't afraid to possibly lose some of their audience, because they are constantly creating new and different music.

This dillemma can be corrected by two proposals:

a) Learn to love gay men.

b) Listen to real music.

You won't like Avril Lavigne anymore, and when you've got Mozart in your math class pumping you up for that calculus test, hell, you will be UNSTOPPABLE. Then, after the test, its time for some relaxing jacuzzi time with "the guys" yum yum.

A++

Avril is cool or what ever, i mean id bang her but her music is stupid. Its girls like her that turned being punk rock into some suburban bublegum wrapper crap that you can buy at hot topic. I mean seriously how can you be a "skater girl" if you cant even do a kickflip? As a skateboarder, i must say, the only thing that qualifies you to be a skateboarder is that you actually ride your skateboard and enjoy it. Avril tries to sell this fake immage of being some sort of skater girl rebel and yet she parties with the likes of paris hilton.

I think the best thing for me is when i read an issue of TRANSWORLD SKATEBOARDING and they talked about Avril. There was a contest and a pro skater named TONY TURILLIJO was staying at the same hotel as avril. Avril thought he was cute and she sent her onterage to go invite him to her room. His reply: NO WAY, THAT BH IS F*N STUPID.

she's basically angry for no reason, ecxept to look cool. her lyrics are really retarted if you actually listen to them. she's also really stupid and i've never heard her say anything somewhat intellectual. "i like dont like pop like cuz its like not real like. im punk like cuz like i hate on pop stars cuz they're like fake." i dont hate on her, she's not really worth hating over. i feel sorry for her more than i hate her, shes just so stupid and helpless. maybe its those damn canadians and their weed. jp

I find it totally hilarious that she's now officially engaged to Sum 41's lead man, Deryk Wimbley (or something like that... he's the ugly cartoonish looking guy). He used to go out with Paris Hilton, of all people.

haha bunch of retards. isnt he canadian too?

Avril is a very average singer in my opinion. She doesn't have a whole lot of talent in the music department compared to many singers (Today though, an actual "good" singer is an anomaly). She's popular because of her "skater girl"/"punk" image thats never really been attempted before in pop music. And her music IS pop. no matter how much she denies it, her music is more pop than it is punk/rock. I respect the fact that she writes her own music, but not all of it is even good. She has had a few singles with decent melodies, but most of the songs on her album are very basic. Also, whenever she gives an interview on tv or something, she never comes across as very intelligent/likable. Every time i see her on tv, she's always preaching about how "real" she is, or how "unlike everything else thats out there" is. If she has to TELL us she's "real" and not "fake" like the other popstars, then thats not very convincing. Anyway, thats mainly why I find it hard to respect her. That, and i don't like her music/voice very much.

avril ain't rock

It's all about Lynyrd and Led
