i got into CAL for spring 06 semester, UCLA honors, and USC business school w/ pre dental emphasis

here is my take on each college: USC- exactly the major and programs that i want to do... but 45000 per year way too expensive horrible area, very dangerous, awsome campus, good social life, great networkin, connections in future which is priceless
UCLA- very nice area in westwood, very safe, i dun have a certain major there the closest thing to business is econ, its on a quater system, so its really hard to do well, cuz its juss midterm and final, before u kno ure failing, u already failed
BUT UCLA has the HOTEST GUYS out of the three schools, and UCLA
has THE BEST FOOD......but ucla is way too big, you dun get much attention, you are merely a number there so hard to get recs for grad school

berkeley is the same but the area sucks and i heard weird ppl, bad sorrounding area but they are on semester system, and there is the hass business school but u have to apply for that in sophmore year and its really hard to get in, so if i dun get in im SCREWED

but berkley is more prestigious everyone knows it, a degree from CAL is very valuable, u are mor likley to get hired if u have a CAL degree

however ucla and CAL is SOO CHEAP:
CAL is 23000 while ucla is 22000 while USC is 45000

i got into the business school with a a predental emphsis which means they are goin to prepare me for dental school.. i really want to do business and dental but more business than dental but dental is more stable i have a direction and business is relaly broad i dunno if i will like it and its a very unstable career. therefore i will grad with a business degree and get a job if i decide that i dun like the job i will apply for dental school and then become an orthodontist. the business degree will come in handy ...that is why the usc program is the best fit for me. and which is y i am leanign towards USC
but i feel like i cannt turn down CAL for usc like its almost wrong in a way.. i dunno PLEASE HELP and advice would be GREAT thanksss....

You know, I just LOVE how people talk about things based on preconceptions. From the students I've talked with on and off campus, you will not be spoon-fed attention, but if you take initiative and make an effort you'll be more than fine. Also, I don't think the aesthetic qualities of the student body should be part of the criteria for anybody's consideration of admission, but that's just me.

I'm really sick of people looking down on UCLA and holding Cal up on a pedestal. Yes, Cal is undoubtedly a great school, but it's not for everybody; certainly not for me, and I could care less about the name. Even currrent UCLA students seem to cower at Cal's "prestige," which I find wildly discouraging. Besides, how many times have we been through this? It's what you do with your education, not what name appears on your degree. Or is that just some educational philosophy everyone pretends to believe in but no one really does? You can go to Cal and do squat or go to LA and take advantage of all the opportunities (or vice versa), but the name of your school will not carry you through life. You are more likely to be hired if you have experience and are a hard worker, not if you have a degree from Cal.

But why am I even talking. I'm going to be a freaking writer--doesn't matter where the hell I get my degree, I'm still going to be poor.

i want to agree with laurak, its what you do, not what you have. especially in california, a cal degree alone won't carry you anywhere, especially when you have competition from stanford, ucla, caltech, usc, and many others.

hmm... pre-dentistry and business adminstration? how many years do you plan to stay in college? to be fully prepared to take the DAT, most pre-dental kids go through the regular "pre med" programs, which means a lot of science classes. business administration is something totally different. at fastest, you'd major in biz admin and take a bunch of science courses without earning a 2nd degree in a science field.

Of course UCB and UCLA are great schools but now USC can be put up with the top b/c they are rising to be one of the most popular schools in the nation. (not the most prestige). It is such a well rounded school. It has great academics, small class sizes, a beautiful campus, and an awesome student life. Don't get fooled by location. They get a bad rep for it but it's not that bad at all. Just be street smart and don't wander at night on the streets. Plus it's safer than most schools b/c USC protects its students more since they have that "stigma"
