I really need help please!

So I got into my dream school, but they haven’t given me any financial aid yet. They told me that they needed the 2019 tax returns for a business that my mom sold in 2019. I have notified them of this and they still want the tax returns.

Should I ask the new owners for the tax returns? My dad keeps saying that’s illegal. What do I do? I really need financial aid and I’ve been emailing the financial aid officers back and forth for a month now and there’s still no update on it. I don’t know who to ask about this because my mom doesn’t know either.

Any help is appreciated.

i believe they will want tax returns for the business for the part of the year 2019 that your mother owned it. You should make sure to tell them that the business was sold. Was it sold for a profit or at a loss? Don’t be afraid to call the financial aid office with questions (you or a parent), but don’t talk to a student who might be manning the phones.
