I reformatted an originally-vista laptop with an XP reinstallation CD...

and I don't have the motherboard CD or whatever you call it that has the drivers...so there's no internet connection.

I've been searching google for the last two hours and it seems as though I can somehow find drivers online and download them...but it doesn't seem to work. All of them just scans the drivers on THIS computer (the one I'm typing on) and ends there.

We need to find out what drivers you need - what is the manufacturer and model of your laptop?

On device manager, I see yellow question marks on “Ethernet Controller”, “Network Controller”, “PCI Device”, “SM Bus Controller”, “Video Controller”, and “Video Controller (VGA Compatible)”

I’m guessing I need drivers for these. I just don’t know where to get them…

It’s a Dell Inspiron 1545.

[Drivers & Downloads](<a href=“Support | Dell US”>Support | Dell US)

Download, then stick the drivers on a USB or something and plug it into the Inspiron (hopefully the USB ports are still working? If not, try burning to a CD maybe)

I have that model as well running XP…I have a drivers disc that came with the computer that has XP drivers as well. If you can’t get the above suggestions to work, let me know and I can shoot you an ISO or something.
