'When Harry Met Sally'. They originally met while attending The University of Chicago

Oh, and I thought Theo went to Bennington College in VT?

LOL...Theo always wore NYU shirts...

the cosby show is rerun on our local UPN station...and ive seen him wear NYU gear all the time

Mentions of Bennington College exist in:
Igby Goes Down - Claire Danes's character attends Bennington College
The Cosby Show - character of Theo wanted to attend Bennington College
The Simpsons - mention of the Mayor's daughter on the waitlist for Bennington College http://snpp.com/episodes/CABF01
Cheers - the character of Diane Chambers attended Bennington College
Franny and Zooey - In J.D. Salinger's short novel, Franny tells Lane, "The Bennington-Sarah Lawrence type looked like she'd spent the whole train ride in the John, sculpting or painting or something, or as though she had a leotard on under her dress."
Strong Motion - In Jonathan Franzen's novel "Eileen went to Bennington College. It was the best school she'd gotten into and was the choice of Judd, her North Shore boyfriend. It was also the most expensive undergraduate institution in the country. She and Judd had broken up before they arrived for orientation."

The film "A Beautiful Mind" is about John Nash of Princeton, but was actually filmed at Fordham University in New York City. The building featured in the film is actually Keating Hall at their Rose Hills Campus. The same is true for "Love Story" which supposedly takes place at Harvard, but was also filmed at Fordham.<<

Not so fast.... Most movies are filmed at many locations including occasionaly Fordham, but "A Beautiful Mind" is famous for its many scenes filmed at Princeton. And anyone who has been to Princeton won't have trouble recognizing a lot of buildings and scenes. The tour guides at Princeton currently point out where some of the key scenes were filmed.

Similary, "Love Story" was partly filmed in New York, but much of of the Harvard footage was filmed at Harvard itself. It fact this movie is famous for being the last movie that Harvard allowed to be flimed on campus, which is one reason why so many other campuses get to be a stand-in for Harvard in the movies:

"Real Genius" kind of portrays Caltech although I guess it was technically filmed at Pomona.

Wikipedia on Harvard movies:

"Though Harvard has been featured in many US films, including Legally Blonde, The Firm, The Paper Chase, Good Will Hunting, With Honors, How High, and Harvard Man, the University has not allowed any movies to be filmed on its campus since Love Story in the 1960s; most films are shot in look-alike cities, such as Toronto, and colleges such as Wheaton and Bridgewater State [6]. Also set in Harvard is Korean hit TV series Love Story in Harvard[7], filmed at University of Southern California. Many movies have characters identified as Harvard graduates, including A Few Good Men, American Psycho, and Two Weeks Notice.

The novel The Da Vinci Code has its main character, Robert Langdon, as a Harvard "professor of symbology," although no such field exists at Harvard."

coureur, it was not my intention to indicate that the entire movie was filmed at Fordham, but that rather the main scenes showing the campus courtyard and main buildings were filmed at Fordham. I believe "A Beautiful Mind" has indoor shots at Princeton and one outdoor shot near Hanlon Hall (or some such building)--but most of the shots--and the shots that show the overall campus--were filmed at Fordham. The same applies to "Love Story".

I hardly think that shots inside buildings count much towards convincing people, "Wow, that's a beautiful campus where I'd like to go to school", compared to outdoor shots, which obviously do have impact.

P.S. I have been on all three campuses (Princeton, Harvard and Fordham). If I were ranking them in order of beauty, it would be Fordham #1, Princeton #2, and Harvard#3. I also agree that if you count the towns they are in (Princeton, Cambridge, and the Bronx), then the ranking would be Princeton #1, Cambridge #2, and the Bronx #3).

If summer is going to brown, what about seth? !!!

In europe we are at the episod where marissa and alex are daiting... so I don't know much about...

Some of A Beautiful Mind was filmed at the Mansion at FAirleigh Dickinson in New Jersey

"Stealing Harvard" was actually supposed to be "Stealing Stanford" until stanford said no. Good work, administration!

NYU is mentioned in both the stage and film versions of RENT.
I know NYU is mentioned in the stage version of Hair. I'm not sure about the film, though.

"The Way We Were (Redford/Streisand)"-Union college. Look for me standing in the Peace Rally ("any peace but Katies' piece") scene between Lois Chiles and Bradford Dillman. Of course, my big scene was cut out (yeah, sure).

Screenplay written/adapted by Arthur C. Lorentz (wrote West Side Story), who fashioned the college scenes after his alma mater, Cornell...but the Cornell campus had too many new buildings to film these scenes set in the 30s, so they had to find an undernourished campus. These days Union looks a lot newer...

Oh, and Bob (Redford) was cool during shooting, praising his original Agent as sticking by him when he was just breaking into the biz, throwing the football around during breaks (oh yeah...tons of breaks).

Babs, OTOH, was a Grade A b**tch...she would only talk to the Director (Sidney Pollack) thru her secretary, never directly. Great experience...and I got $5/day for my troubles.

"Quote:
How High - Harvard

Lol...that's onomatopia....

Hope I spelled that correctly!!"

You spelt it wrong.

And the right word is "alliteration."

Georgetown

The Exorcist :)

Anger Management was also filmed in Princeton, but I don't think they used the university campus. They used some post office I think. Or was it Cranbury? Oh yeah, it was Cranbury.

Indeed, Animal House was inspired by experiences at Dartmouth, but the actual filming was in & around the University of Oregon campus in Eugene:
http://www.acmewebpages.com/animal/locales.htm
"Because of the tight budget Universal Pictures allotted for Animal House (about $2.7 million), John Landis had to find a college campus for the filming. After 12 colleges in six states said "no" to filming the movie on their campuses, the University of Oregon President William P. Boyd agreed to let Landis use the Eugene campus without even reading the script first. Earlier in his career, as a dean at another school, Boyd turned down filming of The Graduate, saying it was vulgar and outrageous."

The parade scene was filmed in the neighboring town of Cottage Grove, where they still have a huge commemorative toga party every year:
http://www.animalhousecelebration.com/guinness.htm
"We're delighted to have created a new world's record," said Tim Flowerday, executive director of the Cottage Grove Chamber of Commerce. "We hope the designation will increase attendance at future events and bring more positive attention to our All-America City."

Enjoy!
