I sent in my SATs and ACTs but...

My ACT is better by a good amount.

SAT: 2060 overall, 650 CR, 750 M, 660 R
Subject Tests: 730 Math II, 680 Chem
ACT: 32 Comp. (31 Eng, 34 M, 32 R, 31 S), 8 on the essay.

Will my lower SAT scores hurt my application? Would it have been better to not have sent them at all? I'm applying to many schools where my SAT is on the lower end but ACT is on the higher end (my SAT math is usually on the higher end though, and I am applying for engineering).

Any replies are appreciated.

Where are you applying?

JBM, they will most likely only look at the higher of the two. My D's ACT was significantly higher than her SAT, and on her college site, in her documents section, it shows ACT "received" and SAT "not received" even though they were provided with both. I take that as they recorded and used the ACT which was the higher score.

Thanks for the replies.

So they just completely disregarded the SAT scores? What school was this?

And I am applying to Cornell, UC Berkeley, UCLA, Northwestern, Tufts, WUSTL, Duke, and U of Michigan and Cal Poly as backups.

They will most likely review all the scores, but only consider the ones that favor you more.

for the UCs, are you instate or out-of-state? If you're OOS, you need some more back-ups, unless you're totally alright with Cal Poly. I'm not saying AT ALL that you're not competitive where you have applied - I'm reasonably sure you'll be accepted to one or more of some of your picks, but there's an off-chance, in this most competitive of years, that luck could turn against you.

I'm in state, so I think I have a pretty good shot at Berkeley, and an even better shot at UCLA. And I also forgot to mention I applied to UC Davis, which I got automatic acceptance to, just in case. Cornell is probably my number one choice at the moment; I spent a lot of time on that app.
