I should probably give up, right?

I'm going to be a Junior in college this fall. My GPA already sucks at a 2.8. I decided to take Organic I and II during the summer. I'm almost done with Organic I but I'm failing. I have the final next week, and I've failed all three exams so far. The averages in our class for the exams were : 68, 60, 64. For the last exam we just took, people cheated so average was higher. I didn't cheat and I've done below average on all of the exams. There is going to be a curve at the end but since I've done below average, I'm pretty much screwed, right?

In the summer, Organic is for 5 weeks and we have an exam every week, except for the first week.

Anyway, as a rising Junior, since my GPA is already a 2.8 and with the most likely F i'm going to get in Orgo I... I should give up on this med school dental school dream, right? :( I don't think there's any hope.

I wasted a 1000 dollars and one month this summer just to get a an F (most likey..) It's frustrating because I spent SO much studying... and I still do bad.

Well, I dont really know much about GPA… if you apply for med school do they look at your av GPA for all four years? Or just your GPA from the senior year?
Because then you could work really hard, spot your weaknesses and change your study habits and you wont be thinking your whole life “what if I DIDN’T give up?”

No . But you may be looking at finishing up strong your junior and senior year and getting in to a good post-bacc program. You won’t be blazing a trail, some folks have done it before. Only you know what’s inside you. Just know it can be done.

Don’t take any courses second session. Re-charge. Zen out a little. When you hit campus in the fall hit every study aid you can. Take advantage of everything from study groups to office hours to alternative textbooks…well, you name it, just be there.

Bad decision. Can you get out of taking Orgo II? Chances are, with your performance, you won’t be allowed to advance anyway, but you wouldn’t want to take Orgo II after failing Orgo I.

Medical schools aren’t going to care, and this isn’t a good excuse for your performance.

I’d say that failing three out of four exams is a good sign that you’re going to fail the course.

This is a sign that you’re doing it wrong. For whatever reason, you are spending time and not seeing any gain. Do you know why? Are you studying the wrong things? Have you asked the professor for help? Have you been to office hours?

I remember commenting in [the thread you posted in December](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/pre-med-topics/619134-oh-boy-how-bad.html). You said you were going to get your act together. What happened?

If you’re going to keep up with this kind of academic performance, then chances are you aren’t going to make it for dental school or medical school admissions. You need to figure out what’s keeping you from getting A’s and B’s.
