Hi! As I am not from the US, I signed up on the common application even though I am applying next year. I created a college list there and since then I started getting emails from the universities telling me about deadlines. When I sign in, under my name it says first year, so I probably signed up as a future first year student, but is it ok?
Its fine, but your account will be deleted in the summer.
Your account will be completely deleted around 7/23 (not sure of the exact date for 2016) and you can make a new account after 8/1. Best to keep your college list somewhere else for safe keeping and don’t bother filling out the app just yet. I had D make an account early just so she could get a peek at the format, but she had to make a new one in August before her senior year.
If you do start to fill out the Common App, make sure you write your answers down somewhere else as well (not just on the Common App). If you don’t, it would be a waste of time and effort filling it out now because it will all be erased before August 1st.
