<p>I'm a rising junior and I'm wondering when I should make an account for the Common App.
I heard that all the accounts get deleted after one year, so would it be a waste of time to register for the website now? Would my account be deleted by the time I become a senior?</p>
<p>I registered mine in the summer before senior year. I really don’t think you need to do it any sooner because the specific essay prompts, etc for the relevant application season would not be updated before that anyway.</p>

<p>Yes, it will be deleted. It opens up 8/1 for upcoming year. What you can do is download the pdf and work on that. They will also release a new pdf a few months before 8/1 so the rising seniors can use to prepare. If you want to get ready early, concentrate on the EC section and the essays. Also identify the teachers you want to complete recommendations. That way next 8/1 you can complete your application and submit before school starts.</p>
