I still havent gotten in yet...

Well...nevermind my question. WA was updated for me...friggin' A...got waitlisted. Should I stay on the list or just move on to my #2 school??

Salem, I doubt many Stanford, Dartmouth, Brown and Cornell material students were deferred by Michigan back in December. Michigan is selective, but not THAT selective that it would defer students who would be admitted into Stanford!

Furthermore, students who applied to Stanford, Dartmouth, Brown and Cornell were going to wait to hear back from them before chosing Michigan. Some will have picked Michigan, but many would not. Besides, from what I have seen, Michigan has already filled most of its class.

I agree that Michigan did not handle this year's applicant pool growth as well as it should have, but I don't think it is going to hurt it, or its applicants, in the long term. Where Michigan may lose out as a result of its disorganization, is against schools that are less selective, like Wisconsin, UIUC, Georgia Tech, etc... Schools that students would ordinarly turn down in favor of Michigan. But schools like Brown, Cornell and Dartmouth have at least a 50/50 shot against Michigan and Stanford probably has like a 90/10 advantage over Michigan.

Damn it....i'm waitlisted too.....when's the latest waitlisted students hear about admissions??

I think I got rejected.

I clicked on view decision, then it says "A decision will be arriving in the mail." What is the point of the link then... -___-. They can save paper, if they just post rejections/waitlists online.

damn ....waitlisted... omg... i got waitlisted to 4 colleges so far... WashU, emory, UNC-CH, UMICH!! WTH

i'm waitlisted at Emory, BC and UMich......
So, qtip....have you decided on UIUC?? i'm on the verge of sending my deposit....

i got waitlisted ...im international btw, last year ppl with half the stats i did who applied got in ...this really sucks...

Any tips on how to get off the waitlist for umich?

and how exactly will they contact me ? through WA or through mail?

this may sound dumb, I personally think as an internatinoal students UIUC is little bit overrated (just me.. don't get me wrong, )and i don't want to pay 45000 for UIUC when I can go to Penn state Smeal or UW for 35000 a year.

even though I applied for business school to most of my schools, I still can't decide if i really want to go to med school after undergrad,,, so if i want to go to med, i will end up at UW-seattle, or if i don't and just want to pursue my career in business, prob going to PSU.

p.s. i know that UIUC has been going thru budget issue, but asking international to pay more than out of state fee is kinda ridiculous. i mean i understand that we pay oos instead of is, because we don't pay tax.. but its ridiculous 10000 more? no....

Waitlisted

Damn..........three months for a waitlist???

wow! Shocked...........after so much waiting!! S is ACCEPTED!!!!!!!

I agree!! What a long wait to be waitlisted!!! And till 'late June!!!' WTH!!
I'm about to just send my deposit to UIUC!!

^^ yea me too....UIUc is all iv got left

aj/aamir/koreaqtip

you guys make it sound like UIUC is a poor option -- why? it is a great school & think that you guys will be extremely happy if you go there. My D just committed to UIUC & is looking forward to going there.

good luck to all of you

My D also got the "decision will be arriving by mail", or in other words, rejected. She was deferred back in December. I am a Michigan alumnus but I am deeply frustrated with Michigan. The process was mismanaged, not much for my D (after all they did say we would hear mid-April)but for all those that did not get a single word until today.
I think she got what we read somewhere the "polite deferral" where they don't deny legacy but rather defer to deny it later.
As many people here are doing, I think she is going to UIUC College of Business and we are very happy. we visited the campus and were very impressed. She also got admitted to Indiana, Purdue, PSU, Florida State (in state), South Carolina and a couple of other safe choices.
Anyway,

cupksdad - no no, i'm very happy to atleast have the option of going there. It's definately a solid school and has everything i need to have an enriching college experience. What i meant was that after Michigan's decision UIUC is the only college i can accept. I really dont have much of a choice as most of my peers do. Frankly, my college admission campaign was a near disaster.....

Are waitlist notifications posted on Wolverine Access, or sent via email? I'd appreciate an answer, thanks.

WA finally added "view decision" to S's site and when you click on it, it has an apology for not being able to accept you into the entering class and a paragraph about being waitlisted and an option to join the waiting list. Good luck.

I still don't have it. I'm on it at the moment. See you guys later; I'll be busy pressing Refresh for a while (not that I'm desperate to get into UMich; just got nothing better to do :( ).

is the university of michigan waitlist binding? or can u still decide if you get admitted off of the waitlist.

I don't believe any waitlist is binding. UMich should be no different.

Sorry to be a pain, but when and how did you receive your waitlist decision football? Thanks in advance.
