I submit my harvard supplement late

I don’t know how I forgot to submit my supplement yesterday and submit it right now ? How screwed am I , and what should I do ? :frowning:

Do nothing. It should be fine. You can check on comm app and see when your app is downloaded. Once they download it, I’m sure you will feel better.

You are a tad late, but if you submitted your common app on time, they will probably still take it. After all, they are looking for a way to admit you (and your tuition money).

If it makes you feel better, you could send an email to the admissions office explaining what happened.

@paveyourpath What do you mean downloaded ? How do I see that . Sorry I am a total wreck right now !

@aortax Don’t be a wreck. Over the last couple of months I’ve read a few of these posts so you are not the first person to make this mistake.

If you log into common app, under the dashboard tab, select Harvard. When it opens, you will see two tabs (status and writing requirements). Within the status box, on the right hand side, you will see a pdf copy of your app and the date it is downloaded. For separate writing supplements, they appear below. You will see a pdf of the writing supplement and the date it is downloaded.

@paveyourpath My application well common app one was already downloaded , so is that good or bad ? Oh , thank you and I hope what you’ve said is true !

@aortax The supplement too? Does it show the date for the supplement as being today? Since you submitted the common app portion yesterday and it is downloaded, it should have a date it was downloaded there. Then the supplement will indicate if it has also been downloaded and the date. I do think you will be fine.

No it hasn’t just says submitted january second.

plus harvard supp is optional so it shouldnt be a prob

The office is probably closed for the new year. Relax

Sorry , just really don’t want to make a dumb mistake which could hurt whatever small chance I have for Harvard.

Hey man this just happened to me too. Any good news for you?

@aortax, in my year, I submitted my supplement two hours late and was accepted - no questions asked. When I later spoke to the admissions office they told me that they have a small grace period - usually a few days - where they don’t mind. Remember, it takes them a few days just to start to download and process the tens of thousands of applications they get anyway! They realise that it’s a stressful time of year for college students and sometimes things slip through the cracks.

@jruesmith7, You should still be fine so long as CommonApp still allowed you to upload it. If you’re still feeling nervous I recommend calling up the admissions office and checking whether its okay - they’re very nice and extremely helpful.

You know what? The Harvard admissions office isn’t looking to screw you or to play games. If they read your application and think, “Wow! This is one great kid, with unlimited potential, exactly the kind of person we want to admit,” they are not going to turn around and say, “But the supplement was a day late. Denied!”

More likely, of course, the are going to think “This is a very strong student with a lot to offer, but not someone who stands out in our applicant pool.” But they’ll read the application. They won’t say “Late supplement! Forget about it!”
