I Think I Can

Hello I'm a junior, and I messed up horribly my sophomore year in the IB program I was wondering if my chance at the the following colleges are unrealistic?

USC
Carnegie Mellon
NYU
UCI

Dream schools: Cornell, Colombia

My Gpa freshman year un-weighted both semesters were 4.0 with 25 hours of comm service

Also this year I did do a personal project which took up 6 months of the school year at the same time, a 3ftx4ft painting of Van Goh's Starry Night. Also 30 hours of community service.

Junior Year am :
-taking The SAT with a target goal 2300 800 crit reading & writing, 700 math.(2100 on practice test)

keeping straight A's no matter what in these classes
-possibly painting my school's new mural.
-summer internship at disney
-illustrating a legitimate book for a teacher at my school

Will my junior year be astounding enough for colleges to overlook my sophomore year? And am I even aiming at the right colleges? I'm planning on majoring in Human Computer Interaction, or something in Design. Will the majors I am leaning towards affect the competition level? Can you guys recommend great colleges for these two majors?(By the way I plan on finishing grad school at Royal College of Art-London so suggestions as to what route I should take are welcome as well!)

A downward trend is quite serious. The most important thing you can do now is greatly improve your grades in Jr. Year.

UCI can come down to a low match with good enough grades.
The other schools will be high matches at best.

Chance at UCs would be very low as they calculate GPA without freshmen grades. Anyway, your current GPA is likely holding your back from any schools on the list. Try to bring it up as much as you can this year.
