I think I just filled out a scam

Dear CC,

I think I just filled out an application for a fake scholarship… it was an ACF Visionary Scholarship and after some digging AFTER filling out the info for them to send me a packet I heard that it may be a scam. I was wondering if a) this scholarship is, in fact, a scam and b) what will happen with the information they collected from me (names of me and parents, phone numbers, email, address)… I assume it will just get sold to some telemarketers, no? If anyone has had this kind of situation and can help out that would be great!

Does look like a waste of time, but that’s all pretty innocuous info. Maybe you’ll deal with some unsolicited calls but it’s not like they asked for your social.

I wouldn’t worry, I’m pretty sure even large legit scholarships have some small fine print disclosure that after the fact, they’re going to sell and mine your data.
