I think I might've made a big mistake

Me, being overjoyed that I would be able to go to UIUC, my top choice school, might have made a giant mistake. I accepted my DGS offer to go to UIUC after being declined for engineering. I know its still possible to transfer into the Engineering but I really would love to stay. I really have no idea what to do and I have a feeling I've made possibly the worse mistake of my life by accepting the offer to DGS without thinking. I already have my financial aid and finished my housing application. What do you guys think I should try to do? Should I stay two years and try to get a great GPA or transfer out my first year. I feel really terrible and the anxiety is killing me.

I think you have to go to illinois at this point, bc other colleges may not be able to take you for next fall.

Try to transfer into engineering, worst comes to worst you can transfer to any engineering college you want (within reason) down the road.

NO need to sweat. GO TO UIUC for 2 years. Apply to the engineering department and other universities. If you get in great, if you don’t just choose the other university.

You’ll be fine. I was in the same situation but with the College of Business. Well, I didn’t even apply to Business and just did DGS. Regretted it after but I worked my butt off freshman year and successfully transferred in! Same thing could happen to you with Engineering. Just be optimistic but have a back-up plan, whether it’s a different major or transferring to a another school, in case.
