I think I need a reality check

This summer I've started to gather some choices for colleges, but I'm not sure about my chances.

I go to a well respected public school in my state that sends many kids to schools like those listed above.

I haven't taken the ACT yet, but my PLAN test predicted I'll score between 27 and 31, and I will be taking a prep class my school offers.

When I got my report card my Cumulative Academic GPA was 4.38
My Cumulative All - Subject GPA was 3.81 (not sure if that matters)
Cumulative unweighted wasn't listed, but I calculated it to be 3.70 - not the best

My extracurriculars aren't the best either, I mainly just do volunteer work and some clubs. I took some business classes this year, and I decided next year I'm joining DECA.

I'm going into my junior year next year. My schedule is something like

AB Calc (AP)
Honors Biology (I did PCB because of my math classes)
Honors English 3
Honors French 4
AP US History
Honors Consumer Education for the first semester
Public Speaking for the second semester
Depending on what gym I get put in, that may also count towards my academic GPA.

Colleges I'm considering (in no particular order):
Northwestern
Carnegie Mellon
University of Minnesota - Twin Cities
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
University of Texas - Austin
University of the Sciences
Yale (2 generation legacy)
Washington University in St. Louis

I'm thinking of majoring in something in the field of biology/biomedical sciences or neuroscience. Or accounting. I'm still not sure.

If you need any more info, just ask.
I really appreciate the help. Thanks!

Junior year is a big year–take care of business and the schools you listed you’d have a shot at. Many of them (Northwestern, Mellon, Yale, UMich, Texas, Wash U) are very very hard schools to get into, so try to find some more that are matches and safeties. Good luck with your junior year!

For half of the schools, you need to get an ACT score much higher than your estimated range. For the other half, try to score the high end of the range. I think my D’s PLAN prediction was 29-33, but she got 35 at her first and only ACT attempt after thorough preparation over the Summer before junior.
