So I was reading our local newspaper, when I came across an article about my town's school board voting to reduce the number of weighted classes. Now, only AP, CAPP, & youth options classes are weighted. Last year, 5 of my classes were weighted out of 8, giving me a GPA of 4.5. So this year, I will have 2 AP's, 1 CAPP, and four other classes. My schedule is the hardest available at my school for a senior, but even if I get straight A's, my GPA will still be lower. Also, few months before, they also switched the grading format from an A-F scale, to a 0-4 scale.

Since I'm going to be a junior, I feel that it will be extremely confusing for admission officers reading my app for a number of reasons. I already mentioned my GPA situation, so they might get confused that I'm taking harder classes, yet I have a lower weighted GPA. Also, since the first two years of my transcript will be A's, & the second would be (well, hopefully) all 4's. Can you see how that might be confusing? I just want your opinion as to what I should/could do. Should I, or my counselor, address these changes in a letter to each school I'm applying to, or what would you do? Thanks in advance!
