<p>Next time (but hopefully never) you’ll file the police report. Some things take priority in situations like this especially with such a short time frame. There could have been a chance for insurance to kick in but without a report it’s a no-go most likely (file a report now despite being back home)…
But you said you had a blast at the orientation and now are sure you want to transfer in a year Don’t base any decisions on this really unfortunate circumstance. You’ll run into bad apples no matter where you go–you just have to learn what to do when it happens. Hopefully you can put this souring experience behind you and enjoy your upcoming year to the fullest.</p>
